The Arizona summer has certainly lived up to its reputation this year with some especially hot and uncomfortable weather. However, I managed to get a brief reprieve during my trip to Oshkosh where the temperatures were substantially cooler. Overall, it was a great show as always, and I was pleased to see several fellow APA members during the week. In addition
As you may recall, we completed the election for the APA Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting in May. All BOD positions are filled by volunteers for three year terms which are staggered to ensure board continuity. Here’s a summary of the APA elected officers, directors, and committee members for 2024 – 2025. Officers President - Chris Nugent Vice
As Jim Timm notes in his Executive Director’s report, summer is upon us with temperatures already in the triple digits. Although the warm weather doesn’t bring flying to a halt, it does shift our perspective in terms of when and where we fly with very early morning departures being the norm. It should also bring the issues associated with high temperatures and
Well, summer seems to be coming rapidly upon us, and the outdoor fly in breakfasts have come to an end. Now is the time to concentrate on the higher elevation venues along with the usual airports that have a restaurant on them. No matter where we go now, there are always a bunch of bugs to clean off after the flight. Thats just part of the summer season, so no
Summer is certainly here, and it appears the monsoon season has also started. It would appear that most of the bugs have also gone into hiding. The breakfast flight on Saturday seemed to be rather bug free. Good thing, because it was too darn hot to spend much time scrubbing them off. Getting up for a dawn takeoff doesn’t seem to help a whole lot to beat the
Thanks to all of you that attended our Annual Meeting on May 11th in Scottsdale. We had a great turnout and it was great to get together with our members to share all the work APA is doing to ensure you are represented at the legislative level, preserving our backcountry strips, and supporting the next generation of Arizona aviation professionals.  In
Unfortunately, things seem to have run totally amuck this month, and I’m totally behind the power curve. The weather, while not being the best, has generally been good enough on Saturdays, and the usual Saturday breakfast flights have been able to happen. The spring bug collection on the airplane can easily attest to that. There are a few things that I would
Thanks to all of you that came out to participate in the March Grapevine camping weekend. Despite some weather challenges, we had a great turnout. A special thanks to George Luscombe Driver for a fantastic job showing Maverick – Top Gun after dinner. Everyone had a great time. Our next Camping Weekend will be April 19 – 21 and will be the last for this season
The weather has been a bit unusual during the last part of March. One Saturday the weather here in Phoenix was not too bad, but south of us it was foggy and the freezing level was on the ground, and we ended up going to IHOP, but generally the flying has been great. With the sometimes high overcast, you can fly most anytime and get a smooth ride. The only
2024 march president report apa and raf team aopa buckeye fly in Thanks to all of you that stopped by the APA and Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF) booth at the AOPA Fly-In and Buckeye Air Fair. It’s always great to partner with the RAF to connect directly with our members and learn about their interests and concerns. It also gives us the opportunity to do some missionary work to bring in new members and I’m happy to
