WITH THE APPLICATION (FOREFLIGHT, WINGX, FLYQ, or GARM
IN PILOT) AND THEIR LEVEL OF PROFICIENCY (NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE, OR ADVANCED
) SO THE LEAD FACILITATOR CAN ENSURE THE PROPER FACILITATORS ARE PRESENT.\n
\n\nAn electronic flight bag such as Foreflight, WingX, FlyQ, and Garmin Pi
lot can greatly increase both situational awareness and safety but only if
the pilot is proficient in their use. Attempting to learn the application w
hile you are flying the airplane has the exact opposite effect and can be d
angerous. This workshop is intended to make you familiar with the applicati
on so that it is an aid in the cockpit and not a distraction.\n\n\nPrefligh
t planning is the first step in a successful and safe flight. Electronic Fl
ight Bags can simplify the process of preflight planning and bring most of
the information you need such as runway lengths, fuel required, expected we
ather, and other vital information to one place. This workshop will teach y
ou how to use the EFB to efficiently plan your intended flights.\n\n\nOnce
in the air, situational awareness is the key to the successful completion o
f the flight. Learn how the EFB can bring traffic and weather into your coc
kpit and help you avoid midair collisions and inadvertant flight into IMC,
one of the most deadly mistakes pilots can make - even those with an instru
ment rating. In addition, your facilitator will cover overall use of the EF
B in all phases of flight.\n\n\nRunway incursions continue to be a signific
ant problem for the GA community. Come learn how the aviation applications
covered in this workshop can help, so you do not become the next runway inc
ursion statistic.\n\n\nPilot airspace deviations, including pilots 'busting
' TFRs, are another area of concern for the GA community. The aviation appl
ications covered in this workshop can provide a significant increase in sit
uational awareness with respect to airspace. Learn how to make use of these
tools to ensure you are complying with airspace requirements.\n\n\nEqual A
ccess Information:\nThe FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) is committed to providin
g equal access to this meeting/event for all participants. If you need alte
rnative formats or services because of a disability, please communicate you
r request as soon as possible with the person in the “Contact Informa
tion” area of the meeting/event notice. Note that two weeks is usuall
y required to arrange services.\n\n\nCredit Applicability:\n1 Credit for Ba
