 N – The New Mexico Pilot’s Association (NMPA), in conjunction with the Timb
 eron Development Council (TDC), are sponsoring a fly-in. Come visit the bea
 utiful and secluded community of Timberon, NM, nestled in the Sacramento Mo
 untains of southern New Mexico at an elevation of 6,954 feet. Alternate wea
 ther date will be May 25-27, 2012. There will be camping on the field under
 neath tall pines and adjacent to the Sacramento River. Bring tie-downs for 
 your airplane! We’ll have a portable toilet there, but no showers are avail
 able. For those who prefer rooms/cabins, there are two overnight rental opt
 ions in Timberon (go to www.timberon.org and click on Yellow Pages for deta
 ils). Also, rooms are available at the nearby Circle Cross Ranch (contact M

  Make reservations early. Timberon airstrip is 5,000 feet long, oriented 13
 /31, and the surface is chip-sealed. It slopes downward approximately 2% fr
 om the northerly end to the southerly end, so take-offs are normally made o
 n 13 and landings on 31. Arrivals can begin Friday morning. All are welcome
  to drive instead of flying should you prefer. There will be a group dinner
  Saturday night, and a group breakfast Sunday morning. For the Saturday din
 ner, we will be grilling burgers and hot dogs, with potato salad, baked bea
 ns, cole slaw and a variety of desserts.\nFor the Sunday breakfast, we will
  have scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, pancakes, French toast, and\no
 range juice catered by one of the local restaurants. No one will go hungry!
  Both group meals will be served at\nthe Red Barn, immediately adjacent to 
 the camping area. We’ll try to have a campfire (weather permitting) for\nth
 e Saturday night dinner. Coffee will be ready at the campsite at 6:30 AM bo
 th Saturday and Sunday\nmornings. Other meals are on your own.\nThere are t
 wo restaurants in Timberon, one open for breakfast and lunch, the other for
  lunch and dinner. There\nis a package store located at the golf course. Vo
 lunteers from the local Timberon Development Council (TDC)\nwill be availab
 le to drive people to and from the restaurants and other activities.\nThere
  are lots of family-oriented activities located right in Timberon, includin
 g fishing, golf, horseback riding,\nand hiking. Fees for these activities a
 re the responsibility of those who partake. Also, tours are\navailable on S
 aturday afternoon ($7.00 per person) to tour the nearby Circle Cross Ranch,
  listed on the National\nRegister of Historic Places (www.timberon.info for
  more detailed information). Kids are welcome!\nPRICE – Charges will be $30
 .00 per person to cover the meals if you are an NMPA member and $55.00 if y
 ou\nare not a member (the $25.00 difference will be to cover your NMPA memb
 ership). Children and spouses are\nare not required to pay the additional $
 25 fee.REQUIREMENTS – The Timberon airstrip is owned by Otero County. Two w
 aiver forms (attached to this\nannouncement) are required if you are flying
  in. We will need your registration form, fees and signed waivers at\nleast
  one week in advance of the event (Friday, 5/11/2012). Please let us know i
 f you are coming as soon as\npossible so we can properly plan for the food,
  etc.\nWARNINGS – Timberon airstrip is at 6,954 feet elevation, with higher
  hills surrounding it. Dress and plan\naccordingly. Both winds and density 
 altitude must be considered when flying there. Flying either in the\nmornin
 g or late evening is strongly recommended. Monitor and make calls on 122.9.

 ary Operations Areas (MOA’s) and Restricted Areas in the immediate vicinity
 ,\nso it is advised to have a GPS in your aircraft that displays MOA and Re
 stricted Area boundaries as well as\ncharts available to determine your exa
 ct position.\nThere are no lights on the field, and no services of any kind
 . The FBO at the nearby Alamogordo airport\n(KALM), Ed’s Flying Service, ha
 s graciously offered a 25-cent per gallon discount for avgas for fly-in\npa
 rticipants May 18-20(or alternate dates due to weather). Just mention that
