This month’s fly-in is scheduled Saturday March 12 to Marble Canyon (L41). Meeting time is 9 a.m. AZ time. The lodge is across the street from the airport and is open. The runway was resurfaced several years ago (though it is still only 35-39 feet wide). The Lodge has been notified about the fly-in, phone is 928-355-2225. It is too early to predict the weather but the long range appears to be OK. If you plan on crossing the Grand Canyon in either the Zuni or Dragon Corridors, the northbound altitude is 11,500.’ In any case, do not continue on the L41 on a direct line as the park service does not like aircraft flying over the river gorge. You may parallel the river until you near L41 and then cross the gorge for a base let entry to the runway 3/21. Pattern altitude is 4400’ and the CTAF is 122.9. There is an ASOS listed but it is located in Page 12-miles away but we can use the altimeter setting for L41. Plan on using 123.45 while in route but switch to the CTAF once past the north rim of the canyon. Bring your camera!
